UNH Oboist Releases First Ever Brazilian/Jazz Oboe CD

cd cover

Oboist Margaret Herlehy has released Café 1930, her debut CD. It is the culmination of a two-year collaboration with UNH jazz/classical guitarist David Newsam exploring the oboe as a lead voice in the popular instrumental music of South America. The CD includes Choro Standards, the evocative lyrical Tango, Café 1930 from Astor Piazzolla’s History of the Tango, and selections from Musique Populaires Bresilienes by Celso Machado. Performing with guitar, piano, pandeiro and flute in traditional settings, Herlehy brings a freshness to the genre in this first ever Brazilian/Jazz Oboe album.
