The fall 2015 Hans Heilbronner Lecture is titled “Prelude to the Holocaust? The Kristallnacht, November 1938.” It will be delivered by Alan E. Steinweis, the Leonard and Carolyn Miller Distinguished Professor of Holocaust Studies and the Director of the Center for Holocaust Studies at the University of Vermont.
The lecture will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. in 115 Murkland Hall on the Durham campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Steinweis is the author of three books: Art, Ideology, and Economics in Nazi Germany (1993), Studying the Jew: Scholarly Antisemitism in Nazi Germany (2006), and Kristallnacht 1938 (2009). He has edited or co-edited five further volumes and is the series editor of the American edition of the Comprehensive History of the Holocaust, a monograph series sponsored by Yad Vashem, the Holocaust research and commemoration authority of the state of Israel, and published by the University of Nebraska Press.
